Tick off each step as you go — your progress saves locally, no account needed.
Learn the rally system: attack immediately after taking damage to regain health — aggression is your defense. The optional Cleric Beast (on the bridge) and mandatory Father Gascoigne teach beast hunting. Use the Music Box on Gascoigne to stagger him.
Open the Cathedral Ward. Old Yharnam (Djura the gatling-gun hunter) leads to the Blood-Starved Beast — bring Antidotes; its Phase-3 poison cloud will wreck you otherwise.
Return to the Grand Cathedral for Vicar Amelia, a large beast with a healing prayer — interrupt her heal with serration (Saw weapons) and stagger via headshots/visceral attacks. Beating her advances time to night and unlocks Byrgenwerth.
Traverse the Forbidden Woods to Byrgenwerth. Rom teleports and summons spiders that rain meteors — clear the adds near Rom, then burst her between teleports. Killing Rom plunges the world into the Blood Moon and reveals the cosmic horror.
The Blood Moon transforms Yahar'gul. Fight The One Reborn (kill the bell-ringing maidens on the balconies to weaken it), then chase Micolash, Host of the Nightmare through his maze — dodge his A Call Beyond spell.
The optional Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos (Upper Cathedral Ward) is a brutal Great One — stay between her arms, punish her head-slam, and dodge the charge. Strong arcane fight and great rune source.
Reach the Nightmare of Mensis. Mergo's Wet Nurse swings dual blades and conjures a darkness phase that limits visibility — stay aggressive and to her side. Defeating her completes the standard ending path.
Return to the Hunter's Dream. Gehrman, the First Hunter is a fast, aggressive duel (parry his combos with the pistol). Refuse his offer to face the optional Moon Presence — a Great One that drains your HP; rally it back and burst it down.
⚔️ Boss Guides
Father Gascoigne
Patterns
An aggressive fellow hunter mirroring your own toolkit — axe combos and pistol shots. Phase 2 he transforms into a beast with leaping slashes and frenzied swipes.
Strategy
Use the Tiny Music Box (from the little girl's questline) to stagger him for free hits, especially as he transforms. Parry his human-phase attacks with your gun for visceral attacks. In beast phase, lure him to the gravestones to break line of sight.
Blood-Starved Beast
Patterns
A skinless beast with rapid lunging claw combos. Phase 3 it emits a poison cloud that builds rapid poison.
Strategy
Bring 5+ Antidotes. Serrated weapons (Saw Cleaver) deal bonus damage. Stay at mid-range, punish after its lunge, and back off during the Phase-3 poison aura — cure poison immediately when the bar fills.
Vicar Amelia
Patterns
A large beast with sweeping paw combos and a lunging body-slam. Crucially, she prays to heal herself when low.
Strategy
Stay glued to her front legs and head. When she rears up to pray, burst her or throw Numbing Mist to cancel the heal. Serration boosts your damage. Stagger her head for a riposte.
Rom, the Vacuous Spider
Patterns
Rom teleports and summons spider adds that cast a meteor/arcane rain. Direct contact and the meteor barrage are the main threats.
Strategy
On each teleport, kill the small spiders nearest you to stop the meteor spam, then sprint to Rom and burst her flank/rear. Fire paper boosts damage. Avoid standing under the falling meteors — keep moving during the rain.
Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos (optional)
Patterns
A Great One with a devastating head-slam, a charging rush, and an arcane blood spew. The charge across the room is the big killer.
Strategy
Position between her two front arms at her head — most of her attacks miss there, and you can punish the head-slam recovery. Roll perpendicular to dodge her charge. Bolt paper boosts damage. Heal during her spew animation.
Gehrman, the First Hunter
Patterns
A fast, dashing duel — scythe combos, a quickstep that closes distance, and a charged plunging attack. He uses Quicksilver-style aggression.
Strategy
This is a parry fight: time your gun-parry to his telegraphed swings for visceral attacks. If parrying isn't your strength, quickstep through his combos and punish the recovery after his charged plunge. Rally lost HP by staying aggressive.
Moon Presence (optional true ending)
Patterns
A Great One that opens by draining your HP to near zero with a scream — don't panic, you won't die from it. It then uses claw swipes and lunges.
Strategy
Immediately after the HP-drain, attack to rally health back. Stay close and to its side, punishing after its claw combos. It has relatively low health — aggressive rallying ends it quickly.
