Grand Theft Auto V: Walkthrough & Boss Guide

This is a story and heist overview of Grand Theft Auto V, not a mission-by-mission walkthrough. Grand Theft Auto V has no traditional boss fights, so the section below covers the story's main antagonists rather than boss strategies. Heist figures are maximum takes from the GTA Wiki and can be lower in play. The plot summary follows Wikipedia.

In 2004, Michael Townley, Trevor Philips and Brad Snider botch a robbery in Ludendorff, North Yankton, and Michael is presumed dead. Nine years later he lives in Los Santos as Michael De Santa under an agreement with FIB agent Dave Norton. He befriends gangster Franklin Clinton. After Michael wrecks a mansion owned by drug lord Martin Madrazo, he returns to crime to repay the debt, and the two rob a jewellery store with hacker Lester Crest.

You choose between a Loud and a Smart approach. In the Smart approach Franklin climbs to the roof and throws a BZ gas canister into the store's air conditioning unit, and Michael and the crew then raid the cases. The GTA Wiki gives a maximum gross take of $4,946,153, of which $2,500,000 goes to Martin Madrazo, leaving a net of $2,446,153 to split.

The crew steals military hardware in the Merryweather job. In the Paleto Score they rob the Blaine County Savings Bank in Paleto Bay. The GTA Wiki lists a maximum take of $8,016,020, with $444,206 per protagonist and $210,414 each for the gunman and Lester. The crew is later picked up by FIB agent Andreas Sanchez, who takes the money and pays out the cuts. The GTA Wiki notes that gunmen Daryl Johns and Norm Richards die during the escape.

Run for Steve Haines, the Bureau Raid targets the FIB Building. The two approaches are Covert and Roof. In the Covert approach the crew enter dressed as firemen and take the hard drive from the server room. In the Roof approach Michael and Franklin fly in by helicopter and drop onto the roof, and a FIB Buzzard shoots the helicopter down. The mission pays no cash.

Trevor learns that Michael had Brad killed in Ludendorff, and the crew breaks up. Wikipedia reports that Franklin rescues Michael and Trevor later agrees to join the final heist.

The final heist targets the Union Depository in Strawberry. In the Obvious approach Franklin drills into the vault and helicopters winch the gold out. In the Subtle approach the crew stops two Gruppe Sechs Securicars and drives the gold out in vans. The GTA Wiki lists a $201.6 million maximum take, with $41,664,000 per protagonist in the Obvious approach and $38,918,000 in the Subtle approach.

Franklin must choose: kill Trevor, kill Michael, or attempt to save both. If he tries to save both, the trio, with help from Lamar and Lester, kills Wei Cheng, Stretch, Steve Haines and Devin Weston. The GTA Wiki says Franklin kills Wei Cheng after he leaves a beach club in Pacific Bluffs. According to the GTA Wiki, choosing the save-both ending raises Michael's and Franklin's Big Score cuts by 50%.
