Sifu is Sloclap's 2022 action masterpiece — a one-man revenge thriller built around Pak Mei kung fu that introduces one of gaming's most daring mechanics: every time you die, you age. You play a young martial artist hunting down the five assassins who murdered your father. Death doesn't end the run — instead, a magic talisman resurrects you at the cost of years. Die at 20 and you return at 25. Die again and you're 30. Reach 70 and your life is spent. This aging mechanic gives every fight genuine stakes.
The combat system is extraordinary. You attack with light and heavy strikes, a staff weapon, environmental objects, and grabs — chaining them into fluid Pak Mei combinations that feel authentically rooted in the style. Structure (a guard meter) governs both you and enemies: fill an enemy's structure and they become vulnerable to a devastating Focus attack. Parrying, dodging, and pushbacks restore your own structure while building the enemy's. Every fight is a tight negotiation of offense and defense.
Five stages — a nightclub, a museum, an office tower, a garden, and a gang headquarters — each end in a boss that defines the emotional climax of that chapter. Sifu's replayability is extreme: mastering each stage well enough to reach its boss young enough to survive the next one can take dozens of hours. The Arenas mode adds structured challenge rooms for dedicated mastery grinding.
Every death costs years of your life. Manage your age carefully — powers unlock as you age, but die too old and the run ends permanently.
Authentic kung fu moveset with light, heavy, grab, and weapon attacks. Chaining them into smooth combos is deeply satisfying to master.
Build enemy Structure through attacks and parries; fill it to open a powerful Focus kill shot. Your own Structure breaks if you take too many hits.
Each stage can be replayed to find shortcuts, lower your age, and unlock permanent upgrades. True mastery means finishing the game young.
