Monster Hunter Wilds is the next evolution of Capcom's legendary hunting series — a seamless open world that eliminates loading screens between zones and fills each area with a living, breathing ecosystem of dozens of interacting species. Releasing in 2025 to near-universal critical acclaim, Wilds builds on Monster Hunter: World's accessible foundation while pushing the ecological and visual fidelity far beyond what its predecessor achieved.
The Wound system is Wilds' defining combat innovation. Weapons can create Wounds on monster flesh — visible tears in skin and muscle — that deal bonus damage and generate additional crafting rewards when exploited. Combined with the Slinger's Charged Shot for opening wounds from range, the system adds a layer of targeted body-part strategy beyond World's baseline. The new Seikret mount allows rapid map traversal without disrupting the ecological simulation.
Wilds features a more character-focused narrative than any previous Monster Hunter — following the Hunter and their Alma handler as they investigate the Forbidden Lands, an uncharted territory teeming with species never catalogued by the Hunter's Guild. The story is still subordinate to the hunting loop but more confidently told than World's relatively thin plot.
Dozens of species interact simultaneously — predators hunt prey, weather drives migrations, and player actions ripple through the ecological simulation in real time.
Create physical wounds on monsters using targeted attacks. Exploiting wounds deals bonus damage and yields additional rare crafting parts.
Your rideable Seikret allows rapid traversal across Wilds' large zones without breaking the ecological simulation or requiring load screens.
Cross-play between PC and console, streamlined SOS system, and the new Camp Followers system make co-op the smoothest in series history.
