Summary
ARK: Survival Ascended is the Unreal Engine 5 remake of ARK: Survival Evolved, a dinosaur survival game with base building; it is sold as a separate game from the original.
Survival Loop
Progression runs from stone tools through thatch, wood, stone and metal structures to tek-tier crafting, gated by resource gathering and crafting. You tame creatures by knocking them out and feeding them, and many tames can be ridden. Late-game content includes boss encounters and tek-tier crafting.
The UE5 Upgrade
Survival Ascended is built on Unreal Engine 5, using Lumen lighting and Nanite geometry to remake the original's environments, starting with The Island. Check the Steam page for current hardware requirements.
Multiplayer
Official PvP servers and PvE servers exist as separate server categories. The Steam page lists private sessions for up to 8 players and public online play for up to 70, with PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S supported.
