How to use this page

ARK: Survival Ascended has far more bosses than any single guide can cover, and the question most players ask first is not how to beat one but which to fight, in what order, and what it will cost to get in. This page is a reference for exactly that. It lists the bosses on the officially released maps, what unlocks each, and the player level the wiki gives for each difficulty.

Our coverage. ParryStack has detailed guides for only two of these fights: the Ice Titan on Extinction and Alpha Rockwell on Aberration. Every other boss below links to the ARK wiki, not to a guide of ours. We have not fought these bosses ourselves; everything here comes from the wiki and from Raconin’s videos for the two guides above.

One caveat applies to every row. The wiki’s boss pages cover both the original game and Ascended, and their tribute tables are often not labelled for one version. Treat the numbers as a planning guide, and read what the portal or terminal on your own server asks for before you gather anything.

Bosses by map

The levels are the player level the wiki lists for Gamma, Beta and Alpha. Artifacts are the items you carry in; the Beta and Alpha tiers also ask for creature drops in larger numbers.

MapBossHow it is unlockedLevels (G / B / A) and notes
The IslandBroodmother LysrixTribute at an Obelisk or Supply Crate. Artifacts of the Clever, Hunter and Massive.30 / 50 / 70. Beta and Alpha add Argentavis Talons, Sarcosuchus Skin, Sauropod Vertebrae and Titanoboa Venom.

The IslandDragonTribute at an Obelisk or Supply Crate, then a Generate Dragon Portal item. Artifacts of the Cunning, Immune, Skylord and Strong.55 / 75 / 100. The wiki says the Dragon is harder in Ascended because it uses fire breath far more often.
The IslandOverseerComplete the Tek Cave; the Ascension Panel takes you to the Overseer arena. Needs the Broodmother, Megapithecus and Dragon trophies of the matching tier.60 / 80 / 100. Beta and Alpha add Alpha apex drops. Items you carry in are often lost on ascending, so move them to a tame first.

ExtinctionKing TitanThe King Titan Terminal in the Forbidden Zone; the fight is in the north. The tribute includes the Desert, Forest and Ice Titan trophies.Gamma, Beta and Alpha tiers, with 150 / 300 / 300 Corrupt Hearts. The wiki says Alpha takes 90% damage reduction unless a Mega Mek is on the battlefield.

Abyssalus uses the Thassalanthos Terminal and Shallocis the Kraken Terminal.Check the wiki page for each boss. The Astraeos Manticore is the same fight as Scorched Earth in a slightly different arena.
RagnarokNunatakObelisks and Supply Crates.70 / 80 / 90. The wiki says the Ascended Ragnarok fights the Nunatak instead of the original Manticore and Dragon. Ten artifacts, plus ten creature drops, mostly 10 for Beta and 25 for Alpha.
ValgueroGrendelObelisks and Supply Crates; the arena is the Forsaken Oasis.70 / 80 / 90. Replaces the original Megapithecus, Manticore and Dragon group. Different artifacts are asked for at each tier.
Lost ColonyLost KingA terminal near the Red Palace door. The wiki lists the Lost King with Thralls, a Gigadesmodus and another boss. Read the terminal.
Genesis: Part 1Moeder; Corrupted Master ControllerMoeder through the “One Tough Moeder” mission dispatcher in the ocean biome. The Controller through the HLN-A “Final Test” mission. The Controller asks for completed missions, 58 / 116 / 168 by tier, not items.

We left out the bosses of maps that are not part of the officially released Ascended line-up, such as Crystal Isles, Lost Island, Fjordur and Genesis: Part 2, even though the wiki lists them for the original game. As of 1 November 2026 the released Ascended maps are The Island, Scorched Earth, The Center, Aberration, Extinction, Astraeos, Ragnarok, Valguero, Lost Colony and Genesis: Part 1, going by Studio Wildcard’s 3 July 2026 Steam announcement for Genesis and the Steam store page for the rest.

How the three tiers work

Most guardian bosses come in Gamma, Beta and Alpha versions. Gamma is the original design, Beta and Alpha are colour-coded harder variants, and a patch note on the wiki’s Bosses page says boss health and damage scale from 1x at Gamma to 3x at Alpha in single player. Each tier has its own player level requirement, listed in the table above, and each drops its own trophy.

The trophies are what link the bosses together. The Overseer, for example, asks for the Broodmother, Megapithecus and Dragon trophies, and the wiki notes that higher-tier trophies can open the Tek Cave at lower difficulties, so an Alpha trophy works for a Gamma Overseer. On Extinction the King Titan likewise asks for the three smaller Titan trophies.

The Island: the order most players follow

The Island is where most players learn the system. Going by the player levels the wiki lists, the natural order is the Broodmother Lysrix first (levels 30, 50, 70), then the Megapithecus (45, 65, 85), then the Dragon (55, 75, 100), and the Overseer last, because its tribute is made of the three earlier trophies. That is a sequence we infer from the level requirements and the trophy chain, not a rule the game enforces for the first three.

Our two boss guides

Both of the fights we cover are shown in Raconin’s videos and written up step by step:

  • The Ice Titan with a Carcharodontosaurus: a mobile melee duel on Extinction with one well-built creature, the tribute, the move-bite-retreat rhythm and how to handle the freeze.
  • Alpha Rockwell on Aberration: an on-foot fight at the Alpha tier, with the loadout, the buffs, the ammo counts and the repeating tentacle, heart and bubble cycle.

Raconin’s channel also has videos on the Nunatak (“Nunatak Boss Strategy EXPOSED”) and on an Alpha Manticore fight. We have not written guides for them, so treat them as further viewing on his channel.

How to choose your order

  1. Start with the tier you can afford. Gamma asks for the lowest player level and the smallest tribute, so it is the cheapest way to learn a boss’s attack pattern.
  2. Follow the trophy chain. If a later boss asks for earlier trophies, as the Overseer and the King Titan do, the order is already decided.
  3. Match the fight to your gear. Our Rockwell guide is an on-foot fight built around ammo counts; the Ice Titan guide is built around one strong creature. Pick the one your inventory supports.
  4. Bring a strong tame. The wiki lists the Rex among the situational options for the Broodmother, and our T-Rex guide covers a simple way to get one.

Preparation mistakes to avoid

  • Gathering from memory. Tribute lists differ by map and tier, and the wiki’s tables are not always labelled for Ascended. Check the portal or terminal first.
  • Mixing up the tier. Each tier drops only its own trophy, so check which one you are collecting for.
  • Forgetting your inventory on the Overseer. Items carried in the arena are often lost on ascending; move them to a tame beforehand.
  • Underestimating the Ascended Dragon. The wiki says it uses fire breath far more often than in the original, so a slow fight is a losing one.
  • Skipping the simple tiers. A Gamma run is the cheapest rehearsal for the Alpha.

Frequently asked questions

On The Island, the Broodmother Lysrix has the lowest player level requirements on the wiki (30 for Gamma). The Megapithecus, Dragon and Overseer follow. The order is our inference from those levels and the trophy chain, not a hard rule.
They are three difficulty variants of the same boss. Gamma is the original design, Beta and Alpha are harder, and each has its own player level requirement and its own trophy. A patch note on the wiki says health and damage scale from 1x at Gamma to 3x at Alpha in single player.
On Extinction, in the Snow Dome in the north-east of the map, started from the Ice Titan Terminal. See our Ice Titan guide for the tribute and the fight.
Sometimes. The Overseer needs the Broodmother, Megapithecus and Dragon trophies, and the King Titan needs the Desert, Forest and Ice Titan trophies. Most other bosses need only the artifacts and drops listed in their own tribute.
The wiki says the Ascended Ragnarok fights the Nunatak instead of the Manticore and Dragon, and the Ascended Valguero fights the Grendel instead of the Megapithecus, Manticore and Dragon. Always check the wiki page for the specific map.
