Combat: Fast and Three-Dimensional

AC6's combat operates across all three axes — aerial boosting, descending for ground attacks, Assault Boosting into close range. The stagger system creates clear combat goals: build the enemy's stagger meter with sustained fire, then burst during the vulnerability window. Boss fights are the series' best — multi-phase encounters requiring AC reassembly between attempts (you return to the hangar after each failed attempt) rather than grinding the same build. The final chapter boss fights are among FromSoftware's finest.

Assembly and Build Depth

The AC assembly system rewards knowledge. Understanding EN (energy) load versus EN capacity, weight versus mobility, arm weapon fire rate versus arms recoil control — each variable affects the emergent combat performance of the whole machine. The best AC6 players can read an enemy type and assemble an optimized counter build in minutes. This mastery is the game's deepest skill expression.

Story and World

Rubicon 3's story of corporate factions, mercenary loyalties, and the mysterious Coral energy source is told through mission briefings and in-mission AI dialogue. More accessible than most FromSoftware narratives but rewards attention to briefing details. The three-ending structure adds significant replayability.

Verdict

Essential for action fans. AC6 is the finest mech game available and FromSoftware operating at their peak outside the Souls genre.
