Hollow Knight: Silksong is the long-awaited 2026 sequel to Team Cherry's beloved metroidvania, finally released after years of development. You play Hornet, the spirited princess-protector from the first game, abducted to the haunted kingdom of Pharloom — a vertical, vibrant land of silk and song built on the bones of a forgotten faith. To return home and uncover Pharloom's secret, Hornet must climb the kingdom, defeat its corrupted denizens, and confront the ruling Hive at its peak.
Where Hollow Knight was deliberate and brooding, Silksong is faster and more aggressive. Hornet's needle is shorter than the Knight's nail but far quicker, and her thread mechanics enable mid-air pogo-grabs, sewn binding traps, and a host of silk-powered tools. Combat rewards constant motion: dashes, wall-jumps, and air-dashes flow into a balletic kinetic rhythm that feels distinct from any other action game.
The world matches the combat. Over 150 enemies, more than 30 bosses, and a sprawling map split between Pharloom's twisted hierarchy of moss-coated lower depths, silk-wrapped mid-cities, and the gleaming Citadel above. The hand-drawn art is gorgeous, the soundtrack from Christopher Larkin is one of the best of the decade, and the design pedigree of the first game is fully intact. Silksong has, almost universally, been hailed as worth the wait.
Hornet's shorter, faster needle and silk-powered tools enable a kinetic combat rhythm built around motion, dashes, and aerial pogos.
A vertical, silk-saturated kingdom — moss depths to gleaming Citadel — with over 150 enemies and 30+ bosses across hand-drawn regions.
Hornet upgrades through Crests (loadout-shifting badges) and craftable Tools — sewn traps, silken weapons, healing threads, and more.
A vast, orchestral, and instantly iconic soundtrack from the composer of the original Hollow Knight, elevating every boss and region.
